A registered Section 8 non-profit that began as one family's habit of looking after cattle nobody else would.
Who we are
Gopala Satvik Gau Shala Foundation was founded under the guidance of Hari Kishan ji. The impulse behind it is not institutional — it is personal. Gau seva and social work were part of his life from childhood, and his father was known in the surrounding colonies for looking after cattle and helping people with medicines.
Over time it became obvious that helpless cattle wandering the roads needed something more organised than one family's kindness: a safe, permanent place. That thought became a collective effort, and in June 2023 it became a registered non-profit company.
We started small and with limited means. We have expanded slowly, on the strength of service, persistence and the support of local people, volunteers and donors.
Mission
Provide safe shelter, regular and nutritious feed, timely veterinary care and a clean environment to abandoned, sick and rejected cattle — and to give them a respectful last rite when their time comes. These are the objects written into our Memorandum of Association, so they are legally binding on us.
Vision
A society in which every cow receives respect, safety and proper care. In the long term we want to establish a model, self-reliant gaushala built on community participation, transparency and sustainable development — not on permanent dependence on charity.
Values
Our objects, as registered
These four objects are taken from clause 3(b) of our Memorandum of Association, filed with the Registrar of Companies. They are not marketing copy — they define and limit what this organisation is allowed to spend money on.
To promote gau seva and provide relief, aid and a quality lifestyle to cows through food, shelter and open land for natural living, wherever such infrastructure or services are required, with the motive of protecting cattle.
To provide medical aid, treatment and a last resort or shelter to cows, and to ensure their respectable disposal on death.
To make the general public aware of, and motivated towards, gau seva.
To carry out research and development in the field of gau seva, including research into the feed provided to cattle for good health.
The people
Founder and first director. The foundation was created under his guidance and he remains directly involved in day-to-day treatment and care of the animals.

Patron of the foundation. Prachar Mantri, Delhi Sant Mahamandal (NCR); Up Mantri, Shri Vaishnav Dwarka Mandal, Delhi; founder-president, Shri Chandra Udasin Gau Dham Seva Trust. He provided the ambulance support that made emergency rescue possible in our earliest days.

Where we work
Registered office — East Delhi. Old Loha Pul, Yamuna Khadar, Shastri Park, Garhi Mandu, East Delhi, Delhi 110053. This is our statutory address and where the foundation began.
Gaushala site — Jhajjar, Haryana. Patel Nagar Sector 6, near St. Thomas School, District Jhajjar, Haryana 124507. The herd was relocated here so that a proper shelter, water system and open ground could be built for them.
Jhajjar district lies about 65 km from Delhi. It is largely rural — around three-quarters of its population lives in villages — which makes it the right place for a gaushala that also aims to generate rural livelihoods.
